Artist's Statement
A native Californian, award-winning artist Laura Wambsgans has been a full-time professional artist for over 21 years. Primarily painting the California landscapes, Wambsgans concentrates on the right harmony of color and movement of her brush to capture the view. The sunlight dancing in trees, or sparkling on the sea is the magnet that inspires each painting and drives her brush.
Spearheading an environmental project "Chasing Open Spaces" in 2005, Wambsgans along with two other artists have been painting the rural landscape of the Santa Clarita Valley to historically document these untouched landscapes through the artist's eyes in paintings. This successful project has culminated in two exhibits and contributed to gaining the means and permission for the City Of Santa Clarita to purchase raw land for preservation.
Seeking out top artists for advise and critique on her paintings Wambsgans found Karl Dempwolf, John Cosby and Ovanes Berberian. Joaquin Sorolia, Kevin Macpherson and Richard Schmid are just a few of the master artists that have influenced Wambsgans over the years.
Laura Wambsgans is an active member of The California Art Club, Oil Painters Of America, Santa Clarita Artists Association and The Pasadena Society Of Artists. She has always pursued life with passion, and having survived cancer nine years ago everyday is a treasured gift. With this always in mind, Wambsgans is spurred on and inspired to paint fearlessly daily.
