This month, I would like to introduce you to the work of Andrea Dern and Jeff Ward.
ANDREA DERN
Andrea Dern, wife of actor Bruce Dern and stepmother of actress Laura Dern, brings an English Garden to life on canvas. "I'm an avid and accomplished gardener. I love and collect rare & antique roses, in addition to many varieties of fragrant Jasmine and Lilac, the latter of which is hard to grow in Southern California. My studio, which is really like a secluded artist's pied-à-terre, is surrounded and practically engulfed by these heady, lively blooms. All of which I've planted and pruned, bringing them back to life again on canvas. Being an actor's wife has provided me with many unique opportunities to spend long periods of time in fascinating locals throughout the United States and abroad. Discovering and exploring museums, art galleries, historical gardens, and stately homes (all of which fuel my creativity) has become as much a passion as my painting. Depicting florals in oil is a constantly growing and evolving process; one which I cherish and strive to uncover more about the mysteries of this organic evolution."
JEFF WARD Jeff Ward, young and brilliant rising star in the California Art Club and surrounding circle, shares his quiet artistic passion through landscapes of California and the West.Jeff Ward is a talented artist with a powerful understanding of traditional painting. Born in Idaho, Ward gained an early appreciation for art, primarily through the western landscape. Influenced, while in his youth, by the local galleries in Wyoming and Utah, Jeff’s love of art flourished in relation to his love of the Rocky Mountain outdoors. After studying under renown wildlife artist, Leon Parson, the decision to focus solely on art became an easy one. Ward excelled quickly at Ricks College under Parson and other local Masters, separating himself from his peers through his dedication and work ethic. He soon moved to California after his acceptance into the Art Center College of Design. Jeff crowned his hard work and effort there by graduating Valedictorian of his class with a record breaking grade point average. Though involved in freelance illustration as a storyboard artist, Ward has focused his efforts primarily within the California Plein Air arena. He hopes to share his knowledge, and continue to bring enjoyment to others through the lifelong study of traditional painting. | ||

The Are Young, Passionate and Painting! Collecting Young Artists One of the best things about running the gallery is the amazing opportunity I have to work with "up and coming" artists. There is a multitude of talent in our area of Southern California alone, and many young artists are truly beginning to make a name for themselves. If there is an artist who has caught your eye, keep your eye on them!
