Meet Artist Ginny Liskow

Ginny Liskow grew up in suburban Philadelphia in a small town about half the size of Sierra Madre where she lives now. In between she has also lived in New York and Alaska.

Over a number of years Ginny held a series of positions with ARCO. Her last assignment before she left the company in 1996 was that of Director of Community Affairs, a position in which she frequently worked with such world leaders as Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, President Jimmy Carter and General Colin Powell, among others.

After leaving ARCO, Ginny embarked on her new career in watercolor painting. Ginny’s training includes classes and workshops with John Trees of Pasadena City College, Joseph Stoddard at Creative Arts Group as well as Brenda Swenson, Tom Lynch and Robert Burridge, all nationally recognized artists.

"Life is full of surprises," states Ginny. "Surprise, watercolors! There is magic in every tube of paint. The process of combining water and paint on paper is astonishing! I never know what is about to appear. Yes, indeed, yet another surprise. Watercolors are truly a party in a box."

"I took a drawing class at PCC in 1998. Always wondered if I could draw. The class was a real eye opener and I followed with more drawing and then a watercolor class. Away I went…"

"I paint just for the sheer pleasure. There is something wonderful about the feel of putting water and paint on a piece of paper. It’s textural thing. The weavings started a few years ago. They started out as a ‘What If?’ So, like a little kid, I tried it and liked the result. Again, I think what I enjoy is the different textures I achieve with the watercolor weavings."

"My main goal in life is to have FUN! And enjoy the process of whatever it is I am involved with."

"Please join us for Ginny’s show and opening reception Friday, April 1, 5-8pm. Also exhibiting their watercolors and work will be Lynne Fearman, Joseph Stoddard, Brenda Swenson, Nadina Rose Kimber and Robert Hallett."  - Laura

The Perfect Gift is a Work of Art

Giving the gift of art is a great idea. How many gifts can you give that will fit the following criteria?

  • Enriches the recipient’s life in more ways than one
  • Inspires the recipient’s own creativity
  • Is highly regarded and valued by every culture

If buying a piece of artwork as a gift is a bit intimidating, please visit us here at the gallery or on our website. Another great alternative is our Fine Art Gallery Gift Invitation, on which you may specify any amount towards a piece of artwork here in the gallery or on the website.

If you have any questions about giving the gift of art, call us at (626) 358-5563, or email me.
